Joseph E. Meyers

MEYERS, Joseph E., Jun 9, 1944 – Jun 1, 2012. Joseph E. Meyers, 67, of Omaha, Nebraska entered into eternal life with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 1, 2012. Joe was born June 9, 1944 to Anna Mable (Smith) and Loyd Meyers in Ainsworth, Nebraska. In 1964 he married Sheri Sidders and they had two daughters, Shawna and Debi. He worked as a Meat Manager and District Supervisor for Hinky Dinky Supermarkets for 20 years in Kearney, Nebraska. In 1988 he married Juanita “J.J.” Brown, adding three daughters, Aindrea, Summer, and Ashley, and one son, Collin. They were the proud owners of Meyers Home Improvement in Omaha where quality and customer service were his top priorities. He took pride in building his business from the ground up based upon satisfied customer referrals and word of mouth. He was an avid sports fan with a strong passion for Nebraska Husker football, being a long time season ticket holder. Joe was known by his family as the “Rock” for facing any obstacle with encouragement, fortitude and love. He never hesitated to lend a hand, a kind word, or a listening ear. He enjoyed spending time with family, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, golf, bowling, and landscaping his yard. If he had a free minute, you could find him with his loyal four-legged best friends, Harry and Ivy. Always a true carpenter at heart, he also built houses for his many species of backyard birds. Joe was preceded in death by his first wife; parents; brothers and sisters: Jean Grubough, Bud Meyers, Ralph Meyers, Edna Ford, Mae Hennessey, Neil Meyers, and Shirley Wolfgram. He is survived by his beloved wife, J.J.; children: Shawna Erbsen (Mike), Debi Auch Moedy (Andrew), Aindrea Schlotfeld (Sonny), Summer Parrott (Ben), Ashley Stoczanskyj (Peter), Collin Brown; 13 grandchildren; brothers and sister: Richard Meyers, Lainie Paul (John), Howard Meyers (Donna), and Bobby Meyers. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be held Friday, June 8 at 1:00pm at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 11615 “I” Street in Omaha. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Habitat for Humanity.
