Joseph H. McFadden

 Joseph H. McFadden

May 23, 1930 – December 31, 2021

Joseph H. McFadden, age 91, was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; his son, Thomas McFadden; grandchildren: Joseph McFadden, Jillian McFadden, and Christopher Hagenau.  He is survived by his children: Kathleen Pancratz, Jim McFadden (Kelly), Jane Levin (Mike), Carol Kilpatrick (John), and Ann Hagenau (Craig); fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Joe lived a fulfilling life as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born in Bronx, New York on May 23, 1930, he was an only child. His parents owned a dance studio, cultivating his love for dance. He often entertained his grandchildren with spontaneous dance routines.  He met Catherine early in their careers and she quickly grew to be the love of his life and sole dance partner.  They were married on January 29, 1955.  They had six children and lived in New York, New Mexico, and Florida, following Joe’s engineering assignments supporting the Apollo space program.  Eventually they settled in Omaha, Nebraska, where they finished raising their family, and then retired in Sun City, Florida.  He enjoyed a quiet retirement life in Florida, but was excited to move back to Omaha in June of 2021 to be closer to family.

Joe enjoyed quality time with his grandchildren, entertaining them with his Donald Duck impression, unexpected practical jokes, and cooking special breakfasts. The cornerstone of his life was his Catholic faith, attending daily Mass and praying a daily Rosary with his wife. He spent his time in retirement volunteering for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, ministering to those in need.

Joe had seventeen amazing grandchildren:  Heather Booghier (Phil), Ryan Christensen, Joseph McFadden, Jillian McFadden, Jennifer McFadden, Jeremy McFadden, John McFadden, Jake McFadden, Nicholas McFadden, Zachary McFadden, Joshua McFadden, Kristen Powell, Andrew Powell (MacKayla), Christopher Hagenau, Brooke Hagenau, Chad Hagenau, and Cory Hagenau (Stacey).  Joe also had five great-grandchildren: Kory Leon, Cassidy Booghier, Ellie Booghier, Francesca Hagenau, and Cara Powell.

Joe was surrounded by his family when he passed away on December 31, 2021.

VISITATION begins Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 9:30am, followed by a Rosary and MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 10:30am at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, 3405 S. 118th St.  Interment: Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to CHRS Charity.

If this is the Joe McFadden who worked for a short time at OPPD around the early 1990’s, then I’m sorry I missed this until now. I was a young engineer and I was going thru some tough times. Joe listened and had good advice for me. He was very compassionate. Thanks, Joe. May you rest in peace with our Lord.
