STANEK, Joseph H., Oct 12, 1931-Nov. 12, 2010. Joe played professional baseball in the Dodgers Organization. He was the chief umpire in the Omaha area for over 30 yrs and also the Nebraska State Athletic Commissioner. Joe was the owner of Bucks Shoes in South Omaha. He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Benedicta. He is survived by wife Helen Sis Stanek; children: Joey (Theresa) Stanek, Mark Stanek, Michaela (Duane) Patterson, Janeane (Mike) Whitney, Terry (Kareen) Stanek; thirteen grandchildren: Katie, Melanie, Kyle, Erica, Sara, Jessica, Josh, Jake, Nick, Brian, Kristen, Kendyl and Brielle; two great grandchildren, Dylan and Caleb; sister, Kathryn (John) Groth; brother-in-law, Don (Ann) Mickells; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Begley and Irene Black (Mike); nieces and nephews. In Joes unselfish way, he donated his body to science. VISITATION with the family begins Tuesday, 4:00 PM with a VIGIL SERVICE at 7:00 PM at Assumption Catholic Church (22 & U St). MEMORIAL MASS Wednesday, 10:30 AM at Assumption Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Assumption Catholic Church.
