Joseph Julian Novak, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather died on August 29, 2020.  He was born in Omaha on February 16, 1925 to Amelia and Joseph Novak.

Joseph graduated from Omaha South High School and the University of Omaha.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS California from 1944 to 1945.  He worked in management for Western Electric for over thirty years and was a longtime member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Joe is preceded in death by sisters, Leona Helms and Victoria Roth, and brothers, John and James Novak.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Patricia; daughter, Deborah Novak (Edward Bilek); son, Michael Novak (Karla); grandchildren: Shaw Ketels (Brooke), Cody Novak (Megan), Kieley Hecker (Matt), and Thomas Novak; and three great-grandchildren

VISITATION begins Wednesday, September 2nd, 4pm with a WAKE SERVICE at 7pm at the mortuary.  MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Thursday, September 3rd, 10:30am, St. Thomas More Catholic Church (4804 Grover St.).  INTERMENT: Calvary Cemetery.  Memorials to St. Thomas More Church or New Cassel.

    Dr. Novak, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. It doesn’t matter the age or how good a life our loved ones had, we never have them long enough and we are never fully ready for them to go on up ahead. You and your family are in my prayers and I hope remembering better times with your dad bring you comfort and healing during this difficult time.

    My Father was one of the best who will never be forgotten. My Family’s heart is heavy with grief and sadness but also over joyed that he passed as anyone would hope for ……

    Mrs. Novak, Mike, Karla and family – Our hearts are heavy with the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather . Joe must have been a wonderful man and was obviously much loved. He will be missed for certain but has left part of himself with each of you. May your memories bring comfort and God grant peace.
