Joseph R. Moya

Joe was born on May 24, 1932 in Coffeyville, Kansas, and angels escorted him to heaven on January 27, 2018. Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Sarah Moya. He grew up in Coffeyville, KS and graduated from Field Kindley High School. He entered the Army and served during the K
orean War and then, in 1958, graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Business. Joe was employed with Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals for 25 years. He and his wife, Sharon, were members of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. He was involved in Golden K Kiwanis Club, a volunteer through Kiwanis for the College World Series and for the Conestoga School, and has remained an avid Jayhawk fan.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Moya; brothers, Charles Moya (Evelyn) and Jess (Joanne) Moya, sister Isabelle Miranda and sister-in-law Aurora Moya; sons, Craig Moya (Lisa) and Steve Moya (Diane); daughters, Laura Moya, Trena (Don) Moya, and Melissa Moya; stepchildren: Mark Kelly (Deb), David Kelly (Taina), and Nancy MacDonald (Bob); grandchildren: Ashley Stinebaugh, Austin MacDonald, Brittany Kelly, Dillon Grover, Jaime Burley, Jake Tomich, Jesse Moya, Nick Tomich, Sean Kelly, Taylor Kelly and Zach Moya; great-grandchildren: Jadyn Moya, Xander Moya, Maddax Moya, Will Burley, Ellie Burley, and Luke Burley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and Joseph Moya; brother, Robert Moya; sisters, Trena Lemos and Angie Tipton; grandson, Adam Moya.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, Feb. 10th at 11am at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 925 S. 84th St. Interment at a later date at Omaha National Cemetery in Springfield, NE. Memorials are suggested to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church or Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org. “Rock Chalk Jayhawk!”

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Sharon, during this sad time.
My daughter, Lisa, (Craig’s wife) has always spoken fondly of you and Joe.
I met you and Joe at Craig and Lisa’s wedding and both of you were very gracious toward me and my husband.

Sharon, Joe was one of the nicest guys I have ever known. He was a friend to all and the President of our High School Class of 1950. May Gods blessings be with you and Joe and all of our other classmates who are now with him in Heaven.
Joe was a kind and gentle friend from high school—well liked, of admirable character, and fun to be around. May he find rest and peace in Heaven..
I am saddened to read about Joe’s passing. He was a gentleman and one class act! I remember him from when I worked at Creighton Family Practice Department in the 70’s. Truly the best Pharmaceutical Rep we worked with. Always looked forward to seeing Joe. I also knew Sharon from my ex-mother in law and from when I worked at Bergan Mercy Hospital. Lovely lady. My heartfelt sympathies to you Sharon and your entire family. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
Sharon and family, I am so sorry to hear about Joe,, he was such a wonderful man, and he had a laugh that would brighten anyone’s day. I worked with Sharon for many years at Bergan Mercy Hospital, and during that time we all shared some great times. Then when we lived in Destin, FL Joe and Sharon would come there as “snowbirds” and we had more great times. He was a wonderful husband to Sharon, and will be missed by many people.
My condolences to you , Sharon and family. I remember Joe from high school – a great guy, well-liked and always smiling.
I was sad to read of Joe’s passing. I remember him as a Lilly rep calling at my office many years ago. I looked forward to visiting with him. He was a real gentleman. I offer my condolences.
