Josephine A. “Jo” Caliendo

Josephine A. “Jo” Caliendo

July 31, 1931 – December 10, 2022

Josephine “Jo” Caliendo was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born to Sophie and Paul Cuva in 1931. She graduated from St. Catherine’s Nursing School and shortly after met and married the love of her life, Martin. They welcomed three children: Therese, Mary, and Tony.

Her grandchildren, Anna, Michael, Nicole, and Joshua, were the joys of her life. If she was able, she was at every event in which they participated and was so proud of all of their accomplishments.

Mom loved taking care of people at home and as a nurse. She was a pediatric/neonatal nurse for the majority of her professional life and enjoyed caring for the babies in the nursery. On a personal level, if you visited the house, the first thing you were asked was if you were hungry or wanted something to eat. Even if you declined the offer, food was served, and it was expected that you would eat.

Faith in God was the driving force in her life, and she attended daily Mass and participated in Bible Study with friends and neighbors. If you had a prayer request—she was the go-to person. She always had a rosary in her hand or in her pocket. Her strong faith got her through the ups and downs of life.

VISITATION: Thursday, December 15th, 5 p.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, 15353 Pacific, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7 p.m.  MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, December 16th, at 10:30 a.m., St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.  Entombment: Resurrection Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers, the Family prefers Masses.

We always enjoyed getting together with Jo at our family gatherings. She always had a reply for our questions. We will miss her greatly.
