Joyce D. Wolff

Joyce D. Wolff

July 16, 1933 – September 11, 2024

Joyce Diana Wolff, born on July 16, 1933. She returned to our Almighty Father on September 11, 2024.  Joyce is survived by daughter, Kelly (and son-in-law Ron), grandsons, Mitch and Logan; as well as five bonus family members: Bob, Jr., Ted, Jennifer, Pat and Gwen.

Joyce was born in Peru, Indiana, and relocated to Dubuque, Iowa, in 1951.  She worked in the Insurance industry until she met the Love of her Life, Bob.  Despite being a dedicated Iowa Hawkeye fan, Joyce married Bob in 1983 and relocated to Omaha; which didn’t stop her from dressing in head to toe Hawkeye gear every Saturday during football season! Bob and Joyce spent many hours at Sunset Valley Country Club, on the course and in the clubhouse, where they had MANY friends.  Joyce was the one always looking for someone to “split a beer.”

Joyce was an only child but found a sister in Pat Dougherty from Dubuque, Iowa. Pat’s family became Joyce’s family, and she was no longer an only child.  I’m certain the children of both Pat and Joyce would be aghast by many of the “shenanigans” they were involved in.  Let’s just say, Joyce was very social and didn’t miss many gatherings with her friends.

In her later years, Joyce cherished her grandsons, Logan and Mitchel.  She looked forward to nothing more than Ron’s “good cooking” as she was sure that he was an award winning chef.  She absolutely adored our elderly puppy, “Maddie Girl.” And, she so enjoyed the “posies” that “daughter,” Pat, regularly sent. (She loved them so much we had to throw them away at 3 weeks without her knowledge).

Joyce’s life was a life well lived!  She was as stubborn as could be and didn’t relent easily, as evidenced by her caregivers at Parsons House! She is now at peace and looking down at us with pride.  Job well done, Mother.

VISITATION:  Tuesday, September 17th from 11:00AM-1:00PM at West Center Chapel, 7805 West Center Road, Omaha followed by a private FAMILY GRAVESIDE SERVICE and INTERMENT at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Kelly, I’m so sorry to hear about Aunt Joyce. She was loved by everybody that knew her. I’ll never forget my dad always calling her right on the head And her contagious laugh. We had so much fun when we are younger when you and your mom lived on Central Avenue in Dubuque Dubuque. I’m so sorry that we will not be able to join you on Tuesday as you give your mother her final farewell. Love you always!

Dear Kelly, Ron, Logan & Mitchel, Oh how your mom and Grandma loved each of you! All of us in the MAW office would hear your names almost every day she was there, which was often, as she loved to just bop in and say hi. She was a hoot and I know I speak for the old gang there of volunteers and staff, that we all LOVED her dearly. Carmen used to say she “broke” the copier every time she used it, and she would laugh and laugh and do it again. Those were good days when she came in to help. God bless her; she is now with her beloved Bob, whom she also talked about. Our deepest sympathies. So sorry we could not be there today.
