Joyce E. Fuxa
September 14, 1949-February 16, 2025
Joyce E. Fuxa, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on February 16, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on September 14, 1949, to Dorothy (All) and Edward “Bud” Carlson, Joyce grew up in Omaha alongside her sister, Kathy. She graduated from South High and carried her South Omaha roots with pride throughout her life.
On August 23, 1969, Joyce married Ed Louis Fuxa, at St. Bridget Catholic Church. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their son, Ed “Eddie” Fuxa, Jr. Joyce worked at Union Pacific for 32 years as an executive assistant—a job she truly loved. After retiring, she worked for five more years at the Fuxa family business, Action Batteries.
Above all, Joyce cherished her family. Ed, Eddie, Eddie’s wife Gwyn (Bjorkman) Fuxa, and their two children, Jayden (20) and Colin (14), were the absolute center of her world. She adored watching her grandsons’ sporting events, cheering them on as their #1 fan. She also shared a special bond with her sister, Kathy, and Kathy’s children and grandchildren.
Joyce found joy in the simple pleasures of life—going to parties and out for lunch and spending treasured moments with family and friends. Some of her happiest times were spent camping at her favorite spot in Missouri, boating with her grandkids by day and laughing around the campfire at night—times filled with joy, adventure, and plenty of shenanigans, always accompanied by her infectious laugh. A devoted member of St. Leo Catholic Church, Joyce’s warmth, generosity, and boundless love will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Ed; daughter-in-law, Gwyn; 2 grandchildren, Jayden and Colin; sister Kathy; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parent; son, Ed “Eddie” Jr., who passed away in 2021.

Joyce was a wonderful woman! I enjoyed working with her at Union Pacific many years ago. I am especially grateful for the time that I spent with Joyce, Kathy, their children, and their grandchildren through our shared connection to their cousin Bob Trummer. Joyce truly lit up the room with her smile and laughter. May she rest in peace.
