Joyce I. Swanson
September 28, 1944 – February 26, 2021
Joyce I. Swanson passed away on Friday morning, February 26th. She was 76. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Joyce was born in Omaha in 1944. She graduated from South High School and went on to major in business, with an accounting specialty, at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. After the University of Nebraska, she began her career as a Certified Public Account specializing in Tax. It wasn’t long before Joyce decided to professionally strike out on her own. She co-founded Swanson CPA with Bob Frazer forty years ago in 1980. It was a fruitful partnership with a business that kept booming well into their late years.
She was devoted to animals, especially dogs. She always had multiple pets and had more than enough love for any stray that needed a good home. She was a dedicated friend with many around her that she had known since her school days. She loved a good joke and her smile could brighten your whole day. She loved Husker football and volleyball. She loved to play golf, read, and cook. Mostly though, she will be remembered for her generous spirit.
She is survived by her partner, Bob; daughter, Katie; and many friends. Donations can be made in her memory to the Nebraska Humane Society and Best Friends Animal Society.

So sad to hear of her passing. I had many good laughs with Joyce and appreciated all the accounting lessons she gave me over the years. Such a fun loving soul. She will be missed.
Joyce had been my CPA for the past 15 years and I last saw her last a couple of weeks ago. She was more than a CPA, and shared more than tax advice. I also enjoyed visiting her office, and felt I was living a page of a novel as I sat there, admiring her eccentricities. She often talked about her daughter and how proud she was of her. She will be missed.
Condolences to Joyce’s family and friends. An incredibly kind and helpful person with a great sense of humor. Never too busy to help and always ready with a quip. A blessing to have know her.
Joyce was such a good neighbor. I loved chatting with her when she was out with her dogs. She had a dry sense of humor that was a gift to us all. We go back decades. The neighborhood has lost a treasure.
Joyce was a trailblazer in her profession and so generous with her time and friendship. We helped each other as our kids were growing up and shared many holidays together. Every Thanksgiving, the non-vegetarians were delighted when Joyce arrived with the turkey. I will always remember our deep connection as friends and neighbors. My heart goes out to Katie, Bob, and Joyce’s many friends.
I was always amazed by Joyce’s memory, her lovely wit and the ‘organization’ of tax materials her office. She was a proponent of women in the workplace and equality in partnerships. I will miss her advice and big heart. Condolences to family (including 4 legged pals) and friends.
Our family is deeply saddened by the loss of our dear neighbor Joyce. We already miss her coming down the street with her furry friends several times a day in rain or shine all year round. She always had the most giving heart, with extra large candy bars at Halloween when our sons where young, and a pie or cake every fall consistently each year for decades. We too will miss her love of sports and her great sense of humor. She loved her Katie and spoke highly of all her accomplishments. The love between a mother and her daughter carries on forever. God’s peace and comfort to all the family.
Joyce was an exceptional person. Whose love of dogs was well documented. She will be missed by Pam and I professionally and personally. I’m she is walking her dogs telling a joke right now.
I worked at Fox & Company with Joyce for 12 years. Joyce was always a dedicated and friendly associate at Fox. While I have seen Joyce in many years, she will be remembered as someone I always admired.
My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Joyce. Joyce was a wonderful woman who was so helpful to everyone. She would always make pies for my dad. I will miss seeing her in the neighborhood with her dogs. She was always an inspiration. RIP Joyce.
My deepest sympathies to the family of Joyce Swanson. I will always remember her amazing jokes and her unforgettable laugh. Rest well Joyce.
