Julie Gregory was born on February 20, 1956 in Grand Island, Nebraska.  She grew up in this town with her two younger brothers and three younger sisters.  All during her life, she loved spending time with her grandparents, Charles and Edith Christensen, also of Grand Island.  Julie attended and graduated from Grand Island Senior High.  One of her passions in life was to sew.  She perfected her sewing skills throughout life.  Working on prom and wedding attire was her specialty.  As a result, she opened Bridal Alterations in the Grand Island Mall in 1992.  Then she moved to the Omaha area and opened Threads of Gold in La Vista, NE with the help of her husband, John Gregory.  In 2004, this business was moved into their home.  Until the day she passed away, she loved to make brides look their best on their wedding day.

Julie loved to go to the Henry Doorly Zoo, Lauritzen Gardens, and Valla’s Pumpkin Patch with her daughters and their children, along with hosting family holidays. She also loved to travel with her husband. They traveled to Maui, Catalina Island, San Diego, Los Angles, Key West, Tampa, Myrtle Beach, Washington, DC, Winter Park, and San Antonio during their time together. She especially enjoyed going out to Las Vegas. She loved the sights and sounds of Las Vegas. In particular, she loved to watch the Bellagio Fountain.  Julie also liked to garden, can, and feed the birds in her backyard.  She not only sewed for a living but also enjoyed sewing for herself,  family, and  friends in her spare time.  Julie will be truly missed by daughters, sons-in-law, siblings, grandchildren, and friends she was blessed with.

She was preceded in death by her mother Joan Matthews, father and mother-in-law John and Laverne Gregory, grandparents Charles and Edith Christensen, and sister Peggy Greer.  She is survived by husband John Gregory; daughters and sons in-law; Heather Vanover, Jennifer (Mendyk) Ward (Ben, Sarah (Mendyk) Omel (Tucker), Rachel (Mendyk) Stone (Brian); siblings Frank Matthews, Vena Matthews, Wesley Matthews, and Cherise Bailey, Jim Gregory (Celia), Cathy (Gregory) Houle (Bernie),nieces and nephews; grandchildren: Joshua Dahlkoetter and fiancé, Kori, JoAnne (Ward) Totty (Levi), Kaylee Ward, Brooks, Jackson and Luke Omel, Thomas and Samuel Stone.
