Julien C. Van Haute

Age 80. Julien passed away on September 7, 2017. He was a long-time employee of Mutual of Omaha, Gross Catholic High School, and Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler Funeral Home. An active volunteer, he spent many hours at St. Bernadette Church, Midlands Community Hospital, and the Red Cross as a platelet donor. He was a member of the Belgian-American Society and Knights of Columbus Council 3019.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julien and Mary; sister, Marianne; and brother, Bill. He was survived by his wife of 57 years Barbara; children: Tom (Janet), Dick (Mary), Bob (Cathy), Julie Mellin (Mark), and Jim (Jen); grandchildren: Tom (Mallory), Nick, John, Alexa, Jenna, Kayla, Vince, Nate, Sam, Luke, Drew, Jacqueline, Beau, Cole, and Dan; many cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Sept. 11th from 5pm to 7pm at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 7600 S. 42nd St., followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Tuesday, Sept. 12th at 10am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, followed immediately by lunch at the church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Bernadette Church, Gross Catholic and Mt. Michael Benedictine High Schools.

So sorry to hear about Julien. Since I play for funerals at St. Bernadette, I had the chance to talk to him often. I an honored to be playing for his funeral. RIP

Van Haute family, we are so sorry to hear about Julien’s death. He was such a wonderful compassionate man. Our children who attended Gross Catholic thought the world of him. May God grant you comfort. Rest In Peace, Julien!
I was so sad to hear of Julien’s death. We will miss him at the Election Office. He was a great volunteer and just a great help to us over the years. Always a smile and hello to everyone.
What a great guy! Fun to work with, generous, and so willing to volunteer to help others. He will be missed.
