June was preceded in death by mother, Elsie M. Valenta; husband, Robert L. Ahlstrom; beloved husband, Robert C. Staples; son, John C. Staples.  June is survived by dear daughter, Susan L. Nasif; sons, RC Staples, Tom Staples (Anne); daughter, Samantha Logan (Bruce); grandchildren: Tim Orr (Magie Hornback), Noelle Nasif, Heather Tweedy (Dan), John Staples, Kelly Staples, Ed Staples, Konrad Staples (Sara), Max Staples (Savera); 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many cousins, nieces and nephews; close friend, Anita Sprinkel (Ron); and a host of wonderful friends.

June retired from Mutual of Omaha.  She volunteered with various organizations in Las Vegas, Nevada and Omaha, Nebraska well into her 80s.  June will also be remembered for quilting numerous blankets for family and friends, for her quick wit, and her devotion to her family and friends.

She was a very social person and when she moved into Immanuel Courtyard Assisted Living in the midst of the Covid pandemic, she was unable to move about.  However, after the lockdown was lifted, June became well known and made several good friends, especially her neighbor across the hall.  She was loved by the staff at the Courtyard who took great care of her especially during her last month there.

June was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in the first part of December 2021 and entered into hospice at her apartment before she was finally taken to Josie Harper Hospice House, where she walked into heaven with her Lord.  The staff at Josie Harper were very attentive to her during her short stay there.

Memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, your church, or Assure Women’s Center.

Susie, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a very special lady and you have been a devoted daughter. I remember our Deborah group singing Christmas carols outside June and Bob’s apartment more than a few years ago. They were a real delight to my heart!

I feel a personal treasure in having had our summer visit. She was great at keeping up the conversations. Peace be to her and you, Susie.

June was my supervisor at Mutual of Omaha. She was a very energetic person and I still remember her witty ways. May she rest in peace.

June was a good friend of my mom Elaine Carlson.. June asked my son Daniel if he would play his flute at her service. And he will be doing that

June and her first husband were friends of my parents and when Susie/Bill Orr moved to San Diego, they asked my folks to be there for Susie. Quickly, friends became extended family. June was a woman of strength, conviction and faith; so, I know she is at peace. Love to Susie and the kids–
