June Margaret Puterbaugh

June Margaret Puterbaugh

May 22, 1928 ~ November 23, 2024

June Margaret Puterbaugh passed away on November 23, 2024, from natural causes.  Born on May 22, 1928, in Kampsville, Illinois, she was the daughter of Peter and Lillian Klunk (Gress).  She grew up there as the oldest of ten children.  Her beloved mother passed away when June was 22, leaving June to help care for her nine siblings.  She was a loving wife of the late Eugene (Bo) Puterbaugh whom she married in 1954.  They became the legal guardians of June’s youngest sibling (Sharon) shortly after their marriage.  As a result, they raised Sharon as their child and their children always considered Sharon to be their sister.  They were happily married for 65 years until Eugene passed away from natural causes.  June was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put her family first above all else.  As a homemaker, she was a meticulous housekeeper, an excellent cook, and talented seamstress.  June is survived by her brothers, James (Susan) Klunk and William (Sherry) Klunk and her sisters, Lillian Sauer and Sharon (Dave) Dunn; by her biological children, Thomas (Renee) Puterbaugh, Patti (Jeff) Schneider, Lisa (Phil) Perrone, and Nancy (Mike) Behle.  Her greatest joy was her nine grandchildren:  Heather (Mike) LaRue, Amber (Erik) Dunn-Egerer, Michael (Christina) Puterbaugh, Laura (Chris) Hodsden, Jennifer (Luke) Crum, Stephanie (Cody) Smith, Amanda (Zach) Scardina, Owen Behle, Olivia (Turner) Eakins; and, her 11 great-grandchildren Gavin LaRue, Gabrielle LaRue, Alexis Egerer, Blake Crum, Harper Crum, Quinn Crum, McKenna Smith, Sawyer Smith, Emily Hodsden, Caroline Hodsden, and Natalie Puterbaugh.  June was a devout Catholic and her religion was an important part of her life.  June will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.  She will be remembered as a kind and loving soul who was admired by all who knew her.  She never complained, and her positive outlook and acceptance of the changes in her life were a shining example for all to follow.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, at 10:30 am at St Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 16701 S Street, Omaha, NE.  Visitation will begin 1-hr prior at 9:30am.

Grandma, you continue to be an inspiration for all of us. Your unwavering dedication and love for your family, endless work ethic and positivity reminds us to be the best versions of ourselves every day. From traveling to see you without parents in the summers to visiting dozens of times at Christmas, it was the highlight of our year to come visit you. I always looked forward to our Sunday morning calls growing up and keeping in touch as we both grew older. I will always remember the trip to Disney and your visits here to see us. As we welcomed our daughter into the world, we want her to model your courage, resilience, and most of all, love for those around us. We love you so much and will join you one day. Rest peacefully.
