Kaete Ann (Preston) McBride
September 3, 1975 – May 30, 2021
Kaete passed away after a 20+ month valiant battle with brain cancer. Survivors include husband, Matthew “Matt” W. McBride and son, Preston Conor McBride of Omaha, NE; parents, Leland “Lee” and Bonnie (Morgan) Preston of Lincoln, NE; sister, Molly Dodson (Kevin) of Olathe, KS; in-laws, Steven McBride of Oakland, NE, John McBride (Monica) of Omaha, NE, Susan Marion (Nate) of Omaha, NE; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins. Preceded in death by in-laws, James and Virginia McBride of Omaha, NE; grandparents, John and Helen Morgan of Campbell, NE; Doris Preston of Aurora, NE.
A private service will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to her son’s education fund or donor’s choice.

Kaete Ann (Preston) McBride was born on September 3, 1975 in Hastings, Nebraska to Leland “Lee” and Bonnie (Morgan) Preston. She attended preschool and kindergarten in Doniphan, Nebraska and attended Holdrege Public Schools from 1st through 12th grade. Kaete was a member of the golf team that won the 1st girl’s state title for Holdrege High School. She attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska where she was a member of the girl’s golf and soccer teams and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and obtained her CPA license. Kaete worked for Price Waterhouse Coopers and KPMG as an audit manager for ten years and then as a private sector accounting manager.
On December 27, 2009 she married Matthew “Matt” McBride in Hastings, NE. To this union Preston Conor McBride was born on March 4, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia. In November 2011, they returned to Nebraska where she lived until her passing.
Kaete was an avid sports fan and loved the Nebraska Huskers, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Falcons. She enjoyed music, movies, tv shows, and clothes and jewelry fashion. One of her highlights was as a model in the Omaha Fashion Week Cancer Survivor Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center.

Kaete was my lifelong friend. I will miss née dearly.
My heart is with all of you! I can’t imagine the loss. I will always treasure the childhood memories of roller skating all through the neighborhood. Driving around town while in high school. And those wonderful Tri Phi college days. I was so blessed to have her stand up for me in my wedding. She will be so missed. I am sending all of you much love during this time.
