Karen Susan (Dieter) Svoboda of Bellevue, Nebraska Karen entered into rest on Thursday, January 7th, 2016 at the age of 66 after 17 years of bravely battling kidney cancer. Karen is survived by her mother Josephine Dieter of Ralston, her husband Jack Svoboda, her sons Jim, Joe and Jay of Omaha and John of Denver, her daughter-in-law Lynn Svoboda and grandchildren Josephine, Cooper and Nicholas Svoboda, her sisters Mary Jo Madej, Judy Morrison (Jerry), Debbie Tesarek (Rich), Donna Foley (Mike), Cindy Hamata (Elden), Katie Clark (Steve) and Bekki Koenig (Ron) and brothers Jim Dieter, David Dieter and Mark Dieter and brother-in-law Ray Madej, all of Omaha. She is preceded in death by her father Joseph Dieter and brother Frank Dieter. Karen was born on March 14th in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from Omaha South High School in 1967. On August 3rd, 1968 Karen married Jack Svoboda. With the exception of a brief time in Columbus, Nebraska, they made their home in Bellevue, Nebraska and raised their four sons. Karens friends and family knew her as a passionate and positive individual, never with a shortage of opinions or good advice. She had an unquenchable enthusiasm for her friends, family, shopping and travel that even her long illness could never defeat. Even while making countless concessions to her condition, she continued to be a force of nature, a source of love and encouragement and an inspiration to those who knew her. Visitation and Rosary will be held 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at St. Gerald Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 96th and Q Street, Omaha, NE. Memorials to the American Cancer Society or St. Gerald Catholic Church.
