Dennis “Denny” Kaster

Dennis “Denny” Kaster

August 26, 1948 – September 6, 2022

Dennis “Denny” Kaster, born August 26, 1948, passed away on September 6, 2022, at the age of 74. Dennis resided at the Douglas County Health Center, where he was a resident since 1966, following a diving accident that left him quadriplegic. Dennis didn’t let his injury slow him down, and in his younger years, he would go bowling, out with his friends to Horseman’s Park, and an occasional bar.

Dennis loved all animals, including the 2 cockatiels he kept in his room, Rocky and Keno. His heart broke when Douglas and Earl, the neighborhood dogs, died as he took great care of them, and it is hoped they had a great reunion. Dennis enjoyed sports, especially the Tennessee Volunteers and baseball. He got a kick out of the Huskers losing, so the last few years were enjoyable for him. Dennis spent time reading the paper and would be outside in the sunshine whenever he could. He never stopped learning and was an advocate for other residents.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Frances; sister, Marlene. Dennis is survived by loving family: Gloria, Paul, Shirley, David, and many other family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Cremation.

I was a classmate through eight grades (1955 – 1963) of Elementary School with Dennis at Sts. Peter & Paul Parish & Parochial Elementary School at 36th & X streets in Omaha, NE. Dennis and I knew one another, but we were never one could call ‘best friends’. Dennis was a good kid and I was sad when I had heard of his diving accident. I am glad to know that Dennis had a good life. Rest In Peace, Dennis, as you earned that very well. I hope to see Dennis once again when Jesus calls me from this earthly life.
