Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Hanson
July 7, 1957 – September 22, 2023
Kathleen Hanson, age 66, passed away at home peacefully on September 22, 2023, with her beloved family by her side.
Kathy was born July 7, 1957, in Omaha, NE, to William and Mary McArdle. She attended St. Pius X Catholic Grade School and graduated from Marian High School in 1975. In April of 1977, Kathy married the love of her life, Michael Hanson. She was then blessed with three children Amy, Chris, and Brian, whom she loved very much.
Kathy devoted her life to raising her children and helping manage the family business. She enjoyed being at every sporting event and dance recital to watch her children compete. She loved camping, annual family vacations, and going out to breakfast. Kathy looked forward to all family holidays, birthday parties, and Saturday morning get-togethers with her girl friends. Kathy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her genuine kindness was felt by all who knew her.
In April of 1995, Kathy was diagnosed with brain cancer. During her 28-year long battle, she continued to love, nurture, and inspire her family, placing their needs above her own, always. She taught her children that it is okay to be scared of the unknown, to give your best effort, and to have faith. Kathy showed her husband, Mike, what the true meaning of unconditional love was and that a strong bond can never be broken. Kathy’s life may have been cut short, but her legacy lives on in her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Mike; children, Amy (George) McLain, Chris (Sarah) Hanson, of Omaha, NE, and Brian (Jordan) Hanson of Wayne, NE; grandchildren: Connor McLain, Lea Hanson, Cole Hanson, Emily McLain, Harper Hanson, Barrett Hanson, and Landry Hanson; brothers, William (Patty) McArdle and Mike (Kathy) McArdle; mother-in-law, Marilynn Hanson; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Donna) Hanson, Jerry (Barb) Hanson, Janice (Wayne) Attaway, and Bob (Sandy) Hanson; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary McArdle; father-in-law, Larry Hanson; mother-in-law, Madelyn (Peg) Hanson; brother-in-law, Dan Hanson.
