Kay Francis Mahony

Kay Francis Mahony age 81 of Omaha passed away on July 2, 2023.  Kay was born on December 15, 1941, in Sioux City, IA.  She married Thomas Paul Mahony in April 1975 and welcomed their son, Timothy Mahony, on May 28, 1977.  Kay worked as a Medical Assistant for Saint Joseph’s Hospital at Creighton Medical Center and as a Ward Clerk at the Omaha VA Medical Center.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Paul Mahony; parents, Joseph Bergman and Mary Catherine Bergman (nee Casey).

Kay is survived by her son, Timothy Martin Mahony of Washington, D.C.; sister, Mary Burke of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Mike Bergman of Omaha, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Monday, July 24, 2023, from 5:00-7:00PM at West Center Chapel followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, July 25, 2023, 11:15AM at St. Cecilia’s Cathedral (701 N. 40th Street, Omaha, NE 68131) with a luncheon to follow.

    Our sincere condolences to Tim, and Kay’s family. Tommy was my friend. We grew up in St. Edward, NE. I know that Tommy, Kay and Tim endured a lot of adversity in their family life but they persevered throughout and left a legacy of example for others to follow. We were privileged to have known them.
