Kay J. McGuigan

Kay J. McGuigan

April 4, 1968 – August 31, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Kay McGuigan announces her passing on Friday, August 31, 2018, after a year and a half courageous battle with cancer.  She was surrounded by family, love, and Steely Dan music.  Kay will forever be lovingly remembered by her husband of 13 years, Ryan, and their three children: Harry, Josie, and Jackie.  Kay owned and operated Take 1 Talent, Inc.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 8th beginning at 1pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by a Celebration of Kay’s life at 2pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the children’s Education Fund at the GoFundMe page set up particularly for Kay and Ryan’s young children: www.gofundme.com/support-for-ryan-and-kay-mcguigan.

As we sit here numb from Kay’s passing I am at peace knowing that her children and family will always have the memory of her love and life to keep them strong. Kay was a friend , a work mate , and a inspiration to me. Ryan was stronger than he needed to be yet strong enough to care for all. Go forward Kay and rest . You fought the good fight and did it your way. Our love to all of the family and friends.

She’s the best friend we ever had
    She’s the raw flame
    The live wire

    “Steely Dan”

      Beautifully written, Dutch.
I will never again meet someone like Kay. She was as real as they come and no truer friend will there ever be. My heart is full love and broken all at the same time.
      Rest easy my dearest friend.

    Losing Kay

Blue Butterflies, Praying Hands, Pink Hearts didn’t save you
I have found the old photos
    Smiles at Serendipity’s sweetest selection
Memories mountainous. . . amassed, vast—Thirty years, Godmother to my child. Forty-nine minus thirty less six
    “Little—less—nothing! And that ended it.”
    This Grief trumps past grief
    Sorrow shrouds sun’s shine
    Days’ dawnings duller
    Creation’s colors quelled
    Despair devours triumphant
    Glory, once golden, gone
    Music drones despondent
    Sorrow, weary, sulks eternal
    “What’s a ‘lavender’ word for”
    lassitude?
    You died.
    Celebration eludes
    I’ve gone blind,
    deaf,
    dumb

I’ll never forget Kay’s kindness and her fun-loving presence. And her Halloween Parties were the best. I can’t believe such a beautiful soul is gone. I don’t know if heaven is real, but if it is, I hope she’s watching down on us. I’m glad the suffering is over but also so so sad. Love you forever Kay.

Hearing of her passing saddens me, but joy for her because she has left behind the fighting with the ugly word Cancer. She is rejoicing in heaven with her parents and daughter that preceded her in death. Two words to describe Kay was America’s Sweetheart.
I am unable to attend your celebration of life and please know that you are missed and will be the rest of the days. Let your brightness shine upon your husband and three beautiful children. Much love to you all from MN.

While traveling to Minnesota, Kay and I made it a project. We fed every horse that lived along I-29, we stopped at Holiday Inn to go swimming and we stopped again to pick wild flowers. Once we finally arrived to our destination, my brother drove my car into the lake. That is the kind of stuff that happened if Kay was around.

I am so thankful to have visited Kay before she left this life. Thank you Ryan. You are an angel.
People need to realize how Ryan cared for Kay for an entire year. That is love.
