Keith D. Kelly

Keith D. Kelly Jul 22, 1931 – May 16, 2013 Keith passed away after a hard-fought battle with leukemia. He was 81 years old. Keith was born in LeMars, Iowa. He attended grade school and middle school in Hornick and Climbing Hills, Iowa. Keith graduated from the Salix Consolidated High School in 1950. He joined the Marines in l951 and was proudly stationed on the USS General JC Breckinridge during the Korean War. In l953 Keith returned home and continued working as a truck driver for Pacific Intermountain Express (PIE). He met his wife, Beverly, shortly afterward. They married in 1955 and lived in Sioux City, Iowa until they moved to Omaha in l967. They lovingly and devotedly raised four children together. Keith retired from PIE in 1991. After retirement, Keith continued to stay busy caring for his wife who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis, enjoying family and doing courier work. He was actively involved in the Ralston American Legion Post 373. Keith donated many hours of his time to the Legion and served in many different roles. He was Post 373 Commander seven times. He also served as Assistant Vice Commander, Chaplain, Adjutant, Sergeant at Arms, and Douglas County Commander. He was honored to be of service to his family, community and country. Keith was a very gentle, laid back, fun-loving guy. He had boundless energy and was always on the go! He loved to dance, tell snail jokes, go out for breakfast with the guys and spend time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Keith is survived by his children: Kelene Langenfeld and husband, John, Mike Kelly and wife, Kyle, Stacie Robertson and husband, Mark, Sean Kelly and wife, Kathy; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronnie and wife Phyllis. Preceded in death by wife, Beverly Ann and parents, Ferrell and Mary Kelly. Family will receive friends Sunday, May 19, 3:00 p.m., to 6:00 p.m. with American Legion and Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m., West Center Chapel. Funeral Service, Monday, May 20, 11:00 a.m., West Center Chapel. Interment, Calvary with Full Military Honors by Ralston American Legion Post 373. Memorials will be directed by the family.
