Kenneth Lashay Kemp

Kenneth Lashay Kemp

May 22, 1960 – June 15, 2024

Kenneth Lashay Kemp was born just south of Webb, Mississippi, to Sally Kemp on May 22nd, 1960. Kenneth lived at home with his mom and her husband, Gardin Wilson, until he was 8 years old. In 1968, he moved to and resided at the Beatrice State Developmental Center (BSDC).  In 1972, when he was 12 years old, he left BSDC and resided within ENCOR services.  He moved to his final home at the Mosaic Manchester ICF on May 23rd, 2012, just one day after his 52nd birthday.

Kenny made many friends at Mosaic and stole the heart of everyone he came into contact with.  His two favorite activities were dancing to music and giving hugs. His smile could light up a room and melt the hearts of everyone around him.

He was called home to be with God after a short illness on June 15th, 2024.  He may have left a hole in the heart of those who were close to him but their hearts will be filled with wonderful memories of trips, dances, worship, music and that famous “Kenny smile.”

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Thursday, June 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 15002 Blondo St.  Lunch and fellowship to follow.

The joy you emitted and shared with others will forever be in my heart. I will miss your smile and most of all, those hugs. Love you forever, my sunshine.
