Kenneth Robert Marxsen

Kenneth Robert Marxsen

May 13, 1953 – September 2, 2024

Kenneth Marxsen’s life journey concluded serenely at his residence in Omaha, Nebraska, on the 2nd of September, 2024. At the age of 71, he departed from this world, leaving behind a legacy of courage, service, and adventure. Born on the 13th of May, 1953, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Betty and Robert Marxsen, Kenneth was the eldest sibling in a family of six. His formative years were spent in the educational care of School Districts #7 and #92 in Dodge County. During his high school years, Kenneth showcased his competitive spirit as a wrestler and completed his education at Schuyler High School in 1971.

Kenneth’s patriotism was evident through his dedicated service in the United States Navy from 1973 to 1979. He was stationed aboard the USS Waddell, a Charles F. Adams-class destroyer, where he honed his skills as a Gunner’s Mate, mastering the art of precision with the ship’s advanced missile system. His service during the Vietnam War marked him as a veteran of a pivotal moment in history. It was during these years that Kenneth’s wanderlust was ignited, a passion for global exploration that would remain a constant throughout his life.

During his naval career, Kenneth’s personal life flourished, as he wed Pam Jergensen. Their union was blessed with a son, Aaron, and Kenneth also embraced Jennette, as his daughter. Fatherhood brought joys such as playing frisbee golf, strumming guitars in harmony, and sharing his enthusiasm for San Diego State Football and the San Diego Chargers.

Love struck once more, when Kenneth met Lissett in Bogota, Colombia, and they married in 2001. Together, they nurtured their niece, Yauri, raising her as their daughter.

Kenneth’s zest for life was matched by his insatiable appetite for adventure. He traversed the globe, embarking on remarkable expeditions across every continent save for Antarctica. Thailand held a special place in his heart; it was there that he reveled in snorkeling, hiking, and the unique experience of elephant riding alongside Lissett. Back home, Kenneth found joy in the simple pleasures of working and cruising in his convertible Mazda Miata, affectionately dubbed “His Fisher-Price Car” by his wife.

Kenneth’s legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Lissett, residing in Omaha, and their son, Aaron, also of Omaha. His life’s impact extends to his brothers: Frank, alongside his spouse, Ursula, in Omaha; David, with his wife, Janet, hailing from Rogers; and Ted, united with his wife, Joni, from Murray, NV. His sisters also hold his memory dear: Judy, with her husband, John Healy, from Schuyler, Jean Foy, from North Bend, NE, Jannette, and her spouse, Marcus, of Los Angeles, and Yauri, with her husband, Wilmer, who is honorably enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, stationed in Puerto Rico. Kenneth’s warmth and spirit are further cherished by a host of loving nieces and nephews, each a testament to his enduring influence and familial bond.

The prelude to Kenneth’s story was composed by his parents, Robert and Betty Marxsen, and his narrative now continues through the memories of those he loved and the lives he touched. His departure was preceded by his father, mother, brother-in-law, Marvin Foy, and niece, Jessica Healy. Kenneth’s life, marked by bravery, loyalty, and a boundless spirit of discovery, will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew him.
