Kristine Marie (Sherlock) Laverty, 60, of Omaha, NE, beloved wife, mother, and sister, with courage and dignity, entered the gates of heaven peacefully at home on January 11, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Barbara “Lea” Sherlock, grandparents, brother-in-law, Jon Finney, and nephew Shawn Finney.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick; sons, Donovan Farrens of New York City and Devin Farrens of Omaha; her four sisters: Kimberlee (Kent) Custer of Fremont, Patricia Finney of Sidney, Mary (Keith) Gonzales of Omaha, Beth (Rob) Custer of Fremont; 11 nieces and nephews; other family, friends, and her four-legged love, Pebbles.
Kristine was born on May 3, 1962, in Fremont, Nebraska. She graduated from Bergan High School and earned her BS at Wayne State College. Kristine began her career in human resources, which spanned over thirty years, working at various companies where she utilized her problem-solving gifts and compassion for others. She married the love of her life, Patrick Laverty, after meeting him at the College World Series. Their love and devotion for each other grew over the span of the past two decades.
Passionate about helping others, Kris, along with Pat, volunteered their time and efforts to various soup kitchens in Omaha. A gracious hostess, Kris loved game nights with friends and family. Many happy memories were created from her travels with Pat and her sons. She loved music, especially attending concerts and enjoying live shows. Kris was a blessing to us all! It was so important to her to make all feel welcome when they came to her home. She had such a gift for entertaining and we all were lucky enough to reap the benefits of her gifts! She was witty, intelligent, and classy…such a gem! We are blessed to carry so many memories with us!
Kris was a sweetheart, from the time she was in school. My sister counted her among her best friends. Always with a winning smile, Kris was a wonderful girl. I didn’t know her much as an adult, but am certain she was welcomed with open arms at the pearly gates. God bless her husband and sons as they work through this loss.
I’m so very sorry to learn of Kris’s passing. She was a such a beautiful, compassionate and fun person. I loved working with Kris and always admired her dedication at work and love for her family.
