Larry E. Allen
July 15, 1948 – May 17, 2021
Larry E. Allen was born in Boonville, Missouri where he also graduated high school. He attended college at HLG Hannibal, Missouri and SBU in Bolivar Missouri, graduating with a major in Christianity and a minor in English. He graduated from Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas with a Master of Divinity and a minor in Religious Education. Completed a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from Bethany Seminary in Dothan, Alabama in 1992.
Larry was the bi-vocational pastor of several churches for over 40 years. He served as adjunct professor for OBU in Shawnee, Oklahoma and Grace University Omaha, Nebraska. Larry also worked as purchasing agent for several hospitals, the most recent being Children’s Hospital Omaha, Nebraska, for 17 ½ years before retiring in October 2015. He published articles in several publications including in The Baptist Program and The Baptist Messenger.
Larry married Martha “Marti” Houghton on August 31, 1969. Together they had three sons: Andy, Aaron, and Nathan, who gave them eleven grandchildren: Kenaniah, Hannah, Mahalah, Jacob, Jonathan, James, Jaden, Bobby, Serenity, Cadence, and Katie Mae.
Larry has three sisters: Janet Juhlin, Mary Meyer, and Ann Bishop. He was preceded in death by parents, James and Marie Allen. VISITATION observing CDC guidelines: Friday, May 21st at 9am at Grace Fellowship Church, 1211 S. 211 Street, Elkhorn, NE followed by FUNERAL SERVICE at 10am.
