Lauralee Mains

October 11, 1932 – February 26, 2022

Lauralee Mains passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022, in Omaha, Nebraska at age 89.

She was born to Ernest and Maude Price in 1932 in Madison, Florida.  Her family, which included an adoring and protective older brother, Ernie, made their way to Omaha when she was a young girl.

Lauralee was introduced to her husband, Harold, by her lifelong best friend, Mickey Melady.  The couple raised three children in Omaha: Steven, Shelley (who passed away in 2019) and Susan.  Lauralee enjoyed her five grandchildren, Brian, Jake, Kari, Kaitlyn and Jenny and one great- grandchild, Madi.

Once their children were grown, Lauralee and Harold moved to Gold Beach, Oregon where they stayed until Harold passed and Lauralee turned 80 years old.  She moved back to Omaha to be closer to family and lived at New Cassel Retirement Center for her remaining nine years.

Lauralee was a homemaker while her children were young, and later went back to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).  She worked at Clarkson Hospital in the labor and delivery ward and the newborn nursery.

She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and optimism.  Lauralee was quick to remind us that “Getting old isn’t for sissies”.

Her family gathered in a private ceremony to share stories of their life with her and send her on to Heaven.  Memorials may be made in Lauralee’s honor to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, an organization she volunteered for while raising her daughter who was stricken by the disease.

I loved Aunt Lauralee and have very fond memories if our summer family visits to Omaha. Prayers for comfort as the family celebrates her life.

We loved Lauralee. Over the years, we came to know her children through her stories. Little doubt, she dearly loved her kids. Let those words be comfort to you all. RIP, Lauralee

Will greatly miss a favorite best friend from Gold Beach and beyond. Thinking of her family.
