Laurie Ann Leisey
October 30, 1965 – February 1, 2025
Laurie Ann Leisey, a loving daughter, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on February 1, 2025. Laurie was born to William and Kathryn Graves on October 30, 1965. She grew up in Omaha, NE and was the fifth of six children (Bill, Mike, Diane, Jim and Katie). A few years ago, she moved to the lake, which was closer to her sister, Diane. That was her happy place as she always enjoyed the water, sun and warmer climates.
Laurie attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Laurie will always be remembered for her love of dogs and cats (she had many), spending time with friends and family, tending to her plants and watching movies. She had a passion for shopping and was quite possibly Amazon’s number one customer!
A beacon of unwavering friendship and kindness, Laurie has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives with her kind heart, beautiful smile, and contagious laugh. Laurie is survived by her parents, William and Kathryn. She is also survived by her brothers: Bill (Susan), Mike, Jim; sisters: Diane Powell (Robert), Katie Meyer zu Drewer (Dirk); nephews: AJ & Robert (Jr.) Powell and Bodie, Devin, Trey & Colin Meyer zu Drewer; nieces: Katie Bull, Morganne, Sophie & Abby Graves and Rachel & Alexa Graves; great-niece, Lakely Powell; great-nephews: Bexten Powell, Liam & Brady Bull, and Benjamin Powell.
The family will receive friends and family Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Heafey-Hoffman-Dworak-Cutler Funeral Home, 7805 W Center Rd, Omaha, NE 68124.

I was so shocked to hear of Laurie’s passing. I didn’t know Laurie that great, but met her through my brother Joe Johnson. Laurie was always so sweet and had a smile on her face whenever I would run into her. May God Bless you all at this most difficult time.
Laurie, you were a beautiful woman in every way. I’ll never forget our times on the boats, freezing at the Chiefs’ games, embarrassing dinners with the jerky boys and so many more good times. Your radiant smile and kind soul have left their imprint on my heart. Fly with the angels now!
I could not have asked for a better next door neighbor and friend. We shared so much fun times on the lake, having a glass of wine on the deck, dinners, pets and just hanging out on the backyard swing laughing.. I am so grateful our paths crossed and your memory will forever be in my heart.
Very sorry for your loss
Laurie was a very special human being. She was a neighbor, a friend and always so positive about life. She was always so fashionable, had such a beautiful smile and loved to take pictures of the sunrise and sunset at the lake. It was an honor to be her neighbor and friend.
Friends are a gift that you cherish forever~ I was truly blessed to meet Laurie many decades ago, our friendship endured for many years after. We shared many of the same beliefs and leaned on each other when we were in doubt or needed advice. Laurie was so kind and such a gentle soul. She saw the world in a different light and perspective that no one else could see. I enjoyed her spirit and her love and consideration for others. Life was not always easy for Laurie, but she never gave up her dreams. I will miss her so very much i will never forget what we had in our special and unique friendship.
Love you Always my Beautiful friend~in God’s arms you rest
My dear Laurie
You only get one first girlfriend in your life. You were mine. We looked back on that with fondness and laughed about it the rest of our lives as we were just in second grade. I’m sad we didn’t see each other more often, especially these last years. It’s easy to just dismiss our relationship as a simple childhood crush. It’s not like we went anywhere on a date as 7 year olds. Our older sisters helped keep the flame alive, delivering messages and gifts back and forth to us. They got a kick out of it. I remember chasing you around the playground (parking lot) at St Roberts during recess. Even then they told me to be careful because your heart couldn’t take too much running around. Your sweet heart needed extra care. You were always the sweetest girl in school and I held on to that for what turned out to be your whole life. A perfectly unblemished memory of my lovely grade school girlfriend. Rest your sweet heart my dear Laurie.
A lovely person. Had coffee with her once. And dinner one other time. 😂😂😂
