Lavern H. Davis

August 17, 1930 – May 31, 2024

Lavern was born on August 17, 1930, in St. Libory, Nebraska to Julia and Harry Davis. He had one brother, Dick, who was two and a half years older. He was very close to Dick and for fun they rode bikes and played ball.

When he was 19 years old, he came to Louisville, Nebraska and was working for Kiewit. He stayed at the hotel where he met Shirley. They dated and were married two years later. Lavern always enjoyed playing cards with friends, square dancing, and taking many trips and cruises with friends. They had 3 children: Susan, Sandra, and Brad, and lived in Louisville until 1964 then moved to LaVista where he resided until passing away at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska on May 31, 2024.

Lavern was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Harry Davis; brother, Dick Davis.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years and 7 months, Shirley; children: Susan (Bob) Gottsch, Sandra (Kevin) Ross, Brad (Lori) Davis; grandchildren: Mike (Kathleen) Gottsch, Jamie (Nate) Barber, Mikala (James) Pham, Dan (Stacey) Ross, Tyler (Brittney) Davis, Tanner (friend Lizzy) Davis; 10 great grandchildren: Andrew, Ava, Tori, Alyssa, Braylon, Vienna, Landon, Nate, Mason, and Hazel.

Visitation: Monday, June 10^th, 10AM at St. Paul United Methodist Church (324 S. Jackson St, Papillion, Ne) with Memorial Service at 11:30AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul United Methodist Church.
