Lawrence “Larry” A Tatum, III
January 24, 1956 – March 10, 2025
Lawrence “Larry” Tatum, III passed away at his home the morning of Monday March 10, 2025. He was born January 24, 1956 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He moved many times in his childhood with his father in the service, before landing in Nebraska in 1968. Growing up, Larry had a passion for automotive, and anything he could take apart and put back together. Larry met the love of his life (and equal in attitude) in his wife, Laurie, they were married August 23, 1979.
He first pursued architecture, then civil engineering completing degrees in both. He began work at the City of Omaha where he held various titles over his 27 years. Over the years he found many new passions including, fishing, RC boats and planes, 4-wheeling in Colorado, vacationing in Mexico and scuba diving. His biggest passion was simply tinkering in his garage, often with his car or building some new contraption for himself or a friend. Larry was a brilliant man, there was rarely a question he did not know the answer to, and if he was unsure he would spend days researching to completely understand the topic. He would always go out of his way to help anyone that asked for help or information. Later in life he became a loving grandpa who would randomly surprise his grandkids with gifts, and loved being around them.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Sr.; mother, Betty. He is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years Laurie; brothers, Mike, and Jim; son, Alex; daughter-in-law, Lauren; grandchildren, Brooklyn and Hudson.
Larry, Dad, Grandpa, neighbor, friend we love you, and will forever miss you.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 5:00-7:00PM at the mortuary, 7805 West Center Road, Omaha.
