Burdine E. Lee May 5, 1921-Aug 14, 2016 Omaha, NE- Burdine Eilah Matthias was born in Denver, Iowa on May 5, 1921 to Albert and May Matthias. Burdine was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Audrey Uekert; husband, Dr. Robert Lee; son, James Lee and daughter-in-law, Suzanne Lee. Burdine completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. There she met Robert W. Lee and they were married for 70 years. They made their home in Burlington, Bad Tolz, Germany, Algona and Fort Dodge. In 1982, Bob and Burdine retired to Okoboji and later moved to Omaha in 1998 to be closer to family. They were blessed with seven children: William Lee (Valerie), James Lee (Sharon), Thomas Lee (Karen), Mary Penney (Steve), Marcia Kelley (John), Laura McQueen, and Christine Greene (George); seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Burdine enjoyed life and new experiences. She loved her family, friends, travel, real estate rentals, and the stock market. She supported her family and husband in all endeavors. As a humble servant, just prior to her death, she exclaimed: “Heaven, its beautiful!” In celebration of a life well lived, VISITATION was held on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Omaha, followed by MEMORIAL MASS at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Salvation Army.
