Leland A. “Lee” Monson

July 23, 1930 – July 28, 2018

Leland A. “Lee” Monson, 88, of Omaha, Nebraska, born on July 23, 1930 in Council Bluffs, IA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2018, surrounded by his children. His health had been in decline over the past year with periods of improvement, hopefulness and laughter.

Lee grew up in Council Bluffs, IA and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He attended Parks College and the University of Iowa and spent some time in the U.S. Navy. In 1953, he married Sally Lemmers and the two started their family while Lee built his lifelong career in electrical sales. He retired at the age of 82. Lee was a proud father of five, a doting grandfather of seventeen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Lee did not know a stranger. He was active in his Catholic faith, had a special love of animals and sports and a significant interest in helping those in need. Nothing made him prouder than watching his grandchildren succeed. He held memberships in several civic organizations and most recently had served as Commander at the Ralston American Legion.

The Monson family expresses gratitude to the caring staff at Brookestone Meadows.

Lee was always a bright spot in our world. Full of love and laughter as well as a gentle, but strong arm of discipline. Growing up with my wonderful cousins, Steve, Karen, Julie, Melinda, and Jerry was filled with great memories.
    Much love to you all,
    Catherine

Karen, Melinda, Steve, and all your families. Loosing a parent is hard as you well know. Bean was such a joy to be around, never met a stranger. My heart goes out to all of you, but one thing your mom and dad did was leave a strong family bound. Cherish your memories, those who live in our hearts never are far away. Love to al. Pam and Henry
