Leonard J. Drew
July 4, 1951 – July 9, 2021
Age 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He is survived by wife, Victoria; son, Michael (Mae); grandchildren, Rachel and Lachlan; mother-in-law, Dorothy Wilson; sister, Sarah Mette; brothers Edward (Pat) and Robert.
Lenny was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on the Fourth of July, 1951. He grew up in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and eventually settled in Spotswood, New Jersey. He relocated to Omaha, Nebraska in 2006.
Leonard spent 18 years in the US Naval Reserve and two years in the US Army Reserve. He worked nearly 30 years for the Department of Labor, retiring from there as an OSHA Compliance Officer in 2002. While working for OSHA he proudly volunteered to go to the site of the World Trade Center after the 9/11 attack to distribute respirators and other safety equipment to the workers there.
Lenny enjoyed rooting for his favorite team, the NY Yankees and watching NASCAR races. He was a passionate fan of boxing and made the most interesting noises while viewing them.
Lenny was a parishioner of St. Martha’s Episcopal Church in Papillion, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in his memory to St. Martha’s Episcopal Church, the Paralyzed Veterans of America (pva.org) or any Disabled Veterans’ Organization.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 16th at 2pm at St. Martha’s Episcopal Church, in Papillion.
