Leonard “Leo” Jarecke

Leonard “Leo” Jarecke

December 9, 1967 – July 10, 2022

Leonard “Leo” Jarecke passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2022, at age 54. He was born to Melissa and Bernard on December 9, 1967.  He graduated from Daniel J. Gross High School in Omaha and attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  He spent most of his life living in the Omaha area and was known for his charming wit and good nature.

He retired after a 25-year career at First Data Resources.  Leonard loved and adored his many nieces and nephews.  He baked them store-bought pies and pretended they were homemade, closely monitored their candy intake, and gave them nicknames that only made sense to him.  He spent his free time focusing on his passion for landscape design and gardening.

Leonard was preceded in death by his mother, Melissa, and father, Bernie.  He is survived by his brothers, Kenneth (Souad) and Mark (Kipp); his sister, Meredith (Eric); his nieces and nephews: Jessica (Andrew), Shadya, Amanda, Yasmine, Zane, Tala, Adeline, Beckett, and Aleksa; and his grandniece, Hazel.  He also leaves behind his dear friend, Paco Perez.

VISITATION begins Saturday, July 16th at 1pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by FUNERAL SERVICE at 2pm.  To view a live broadcast of the Service, please visit www.heafeyheafey.com and click the “View Live Cast” button at the top of the home page.

I don’t even know where to start. My heart is broken. I will miss our “hot date” dinners for sure as they were always to short to accommodate all of our gossip we had to catch up on. You were a true friend in the most sincere sense of the word. I am not sure how to fill my days at this point but know you are in my heart throughout each one. See you soon friend.

Man. do I have some amazingly fond memories of growing up with you as an elementary school, middle school and high school friend. I wish we had kept in better to touch as life moved on. I will always remember the laughs we had as kids and the many fun trips we took – and even the childhood mischief.

May God bless and be merciful to your family, old friend.

    Steve
