Linda K. (Purcell) Reiff

Linda K. (Purcell) Reiff

October 30, 1941 – February 27, 2025

Linda Kay Reiff was born October 30, 1941, in Salina, Kansas. She was the first-born daughter of William and Sara (Vidricksen) Purcell. Linda entered into eternal rest on February 27, 2025, after a 16 year battle with dementia. She was surrounded by family.

Linda grew up in New Cambria, Kansas, and attended Salina High School. She met her future husband, Duaine Reiff, at the local Dairy Queen during her junior year in high school. Linda and Duaine married on October 16, 1960.  Six years later, Linda and Duaine moved to Omaha where they raised their family and spent the rest of their lives.

Linda was an active member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church for 57 years, participating in Bible study and serving in various ministries. Linda had many hobbies including ceramics, reading, and she was a member of a bowling league for many years. However, her true love was sports. Linda loved her Nebraska Cornhuskers. She celebrated their wins and cried when they lost. In addition to football, Linda loved baseball. Linda and Duaine often traveled to attend KC Royals games and spent every June at the College World Series, where they were season ticket holders since 1986.

Linda also loved to travel around the United States. She enjoyed taking long road trips to visit family and National Parks, camping in tents and waking her kids with the smell of Spam cooking on a tabletop propane grill. Later in life, while Linda was still able to travel, she enjoyed visiting her daughter and family in Plano, Texas. Linda loved spending time with her grandchildren in Omaha and Plano, attending as many of their games and activities as she could. Linda was a nurturing mother and grandmother, devoted to meeting the needs of those who relied on her.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sara Purcell.

Linda is survived by her husband of 64 years, Duaine Reiff; daughter, Cheryl (Alan) Sheehy, son, David (Renee) Reiff; grandchildren: Kristin (Brandon) Blakeslee, Michael Sheehy, Daniel (Katie) Reiff, and Emily (Evan) Kucera; great-grandson, Dean Reiff; sisters, Kathleen (Lee) Anderson and Dorothy (Skip) Pedersen; and many nieces and nephews.

Linda will be missed dearly by all who loved her.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”  John 11:25-26
