Lyle W. Miller

MILLER, Lyle M. Mar 20, 1917 – May 25, 2013 Age 96; born in Shelby, Nebraska. Survived by loving wife of 67 years, Fern Miller; daughters, Dr. Karen Kangas Dwyer (Larry), Terri Sutton (Dick); grandsons, Zach and Chad Sutton; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends in the Bluegrass community. He proudly served his country in World War II for over 4 years (Army Air Corps and Ordinance) and was Parts Manager for 35 years at H & H Chevrolet. Lyle carried his mandolin in his backpack across the Atlantic Ocean and into France and Germany during the War and returned home to become a noted mandolin musician playing in numerous Bluegrass bands throughout the Midwest and the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. Inducted into the National Bluegrass Hall of Fame. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, aides and staff at the VA Hospital who gave such loving care to him in his last days. VISITATION begins Wednesday, May 29th at 1pm at the West Center Chapel followed by SERVICES at 1:30 p.m. Interment, Hillcrest Memorial Park with military rites by Benson VFW Post #2503. Memorials are suggested to Benson VFW Post #2503 or American Legion Post #1.
