Lynn F. Grap age 89, of Persia, Iowa was called to his heavenly home on November 19, 2014. He was born October 16, 1925, on the family farm west of Persia. He was the oldest of 8 children born to Charlie O. and Viola I. (McHenry) Grap. He attended Valley View country school and Persia High School where he graduated in 1943. He attended the University of Iowa for one semester before he returned home to help with farming. Lynn married Leeta M. Becker on February 10, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Persia. They resided on a farm north west of Persia until his death. Lynn was active at Trinity serving in various offices including elder, trustee, and treasurer. He was active in the Harrison County Democratic Party and helped his wife, Leeta successfully campaign for county recorder by painting signs and positioning them around the county, building floats and pulling them in the parades, and attending church suppers, ice cream socials, and various gatherings around the county. He practiced soil conservation and was cited for his efforts. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and grand uncle. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; Charlie and Viola Grap, his wife of 65 years, Leeta, brothers Donovan, Norman, and Arlon, and sister Jervaise Bintz. Survivors include his daughter: Lyneta Piela and husband Ronald of Elgin, Illinois, son: Dalyn and wife Emily Herb of Volcano, Hawaii; granddaughter: Leeta J. Grap of Volcano, Hawaii, sisters: Nancy Powell of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Mary Beaman and husband Howard of Harlan, Iowa, Char Les Kemmish and husband Kenneth of Crescent, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews and their children. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
