Lynne Marie (Satorie) Laux, 67 years old, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025. Lynne was born on June 30, 1957, in Omaha, Nebraska to Bob and Betty Satorie.
Lynne grew up in South Omaha with her two siblings, Tom and Monica Satorie. She attended St. Agnes Grade School and graduated from Gross Catholic High School in 1975, where she was the captain of the cheerleading team. Lynne was a lifetime member, of over 50 years of Sokol Gymnastics where she competed as a young child until she graduated from high school, and later instructed and judged gymnastics. In addition to her career in gymnastics, in 1977 she was crowned Nebraska Czech Queen.
After high school, Lynne graduated from Metro Tech with an associate’s degree in dental hygiene. In 1977 Lynne was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). However, this did not stop her from moving forward with a career, of over 12 years, at the VA Hospital as a dental hygienist. June 6, 1980, Lynne married her high school sweetheart, Richard Laux, at Assumption Catholic Church. Due to her increasing disability from MS, she had to retire from her dental career serving veterans. However, her biggest job, and the one she loved the most, was raising her three children, Richard, Haley, and Daniel. In 2012, Lynne was diagnosed with breast cancer, which she heroically battled for the remainder of her life.
She loved to travel to places such as Hawaii, Mexico, Czechoslovakia for a Sokol Slet, Atlanta to see the 1996 Olympic Gymnastics Team, Cape Canaveral to see a space shuttle, in which her brother worked on, launch, a road trip down the East Coast, and go on cruises with family and friends. Lynne also loved to go boating with her family at Lake Panorama in Panora, Iowa, fishing on the lakes in Minnesota and Canda, and listening to polka music and eat Polish and Czech food at the Polish Home. Lynne loved to drink tropical drinks, such as Blue Hawaii’s, and watch scary movies during late school nights with her children. Lynne lived a full, exciting life, and will be missed by all her family and friends.
Visitation is Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 5:30-7:30pm, with a vigil at 7:30pm at Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at Assumption Catholic Church at 10:30am on Thursday, March 20, 2025. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
Preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Betty (Klatka) Satorie. She is survived by her husband, Richard Laux; children: Richard (and Ashley) Laux, Haley (and Sean) Coleman, and Daniel Laux; siblings, Tom (and Susie) Satorie, Monica (and Ted) Satorie; grandchildren: Alyssa and Collin Laux, Peyton, Jude, Ari, and Quinn Coleman; nephew, Patrick and niece, Hannah Satorie; along with several cousins and loving friends.

I am so sorry to hear of Lynn’s passing. She was such a joy to be around! Such a beautiful smile and upbeat attitude, despite all the challenges she had. I have known her since those Sokol days when we were kids, and am blessed to have seen her throughout the years. I am very sorry I will be unable to attend her services. I certainly would not miss them, except that my brother-in-law’s services are the very same days in Kearney, Nebraska. Please know of my prayers, even though I will be unable to be there in person. Sending love to all the family, and Lynn’s many friends. Especially, Rich, I will be thinking of and praying for you and your kids!
