MILLER, Maecile (Zurek) Feb 7, 1922 Mar 30, 2014 Maecile is survived by her beloved husband of 70-plus years, Robert; daughters, Melanie Shipley and Michaela Miller; grandchildren, Allison Shipley (fiancé, Keith Wilkins) and John Shipley; loving and caring family members: Jeff and Terry Jewell, Jilla and David Arthur, Joe Jewell, Jr., the Terry and Shelly Zurek Family; a host of cherished, lifelong friends; many nieces and nephews. Maecile was born in Omaha and grew up attending St. Bridget Catholic School with her three brothers and sister. She graduated from South Omaha High School, where she met her future husband, Bob. Maecile worked as an accounting assistant and bookkeeper for companies such as Standard Oil, Graybar, Mutual of Omaha, Cudahy, and Sidles throughout the Omaha area. She retired from Arthur Anderson Company as an accountant after 25 years. Mace and Bob together built two homes in the central Omaha area; they were charter members of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Mace enjoyed golfing, dancing, walking, and traveling near and far. She was a tireless volunteer for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation following the diabetes diagnosis of her granddaughter in 1996. Maecile loved Omaha, and she was a keen historian of South Omaha. She never failed to glean out South Omaha connections among people she met and turn them into immediate and dear friends. She embraced life, was interested in everyone she met, and loved her family, friends, relatives, and church with all her heart. We will miss her every day without exception and carry her close in our hearts always. VISITATION begins Friday, April 4th, at 9:30am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, followed by a MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 10:30am. Entombment, St. John Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to St. Thomas More Catholic Church or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
