Mahesha Nand Sharma

Mr. Mahesha Nand Sharma of Omaha passed away on April 26, 2017 at the age of 95. He was born in Ranikhet, India on February 15, 1922. He studied at Rishikesh Ayurveda Medical College and became a Captain in the Indian Army Medical Corps during World War II. He married his wife, Kamla Sharma in 1947, and retired from the Army in 1971. In 1989, Mahesha moved to the United States to live with his daughter, Vimla Band and her husband, Hamid, eventually becoming a naturalized citizen of the United States.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mrs. Kamla Sharma of Omaha; the families of his son, Prem Sharma of Atlanta, and of his daughters, Shakuntala Sharma, Satya Sharma, and Kanta Bhakri of New Delhi, India, and Vimla Band of Omaha. He leaves behind thirteen grandchildren: Kaustubh, Shimpa, Parul, Swati, Shashi, Meenakshi, Beena, Ashish, Ashima, Sheehan, Sumeet, Sidhant, and Neil; and nine great-grandchildren: Ananya, Anahita, Adaya, Jay, Om, Shivansh, Radha, Prisha and Taarini.

He was renowned for his pious and disciplined lifestyle. His legacy of love and generosity towards family, friends and strangers alike will live on through his surviving heirs.

Private family services.  Memorials are suggested to the Hindu Temple of Omaha.
