Margaret A. Broderick

Margaret A. Broderick

June 21, 1935 – May 3, 2021

Age 85.  Preceded in death by husband, Robert J. Broderick Sr.; siblings: Phyllis Witt, Robert Dillon, Ella Mae Hoden, Patrick Dillon.  Survived by children: Antoinette Broderick, Robert Broderick, Jr. (Berna), Thomas Broderick (Laurie), Lisa Lucas (Tom), and Douglas A. Broderick (Mary Beth); sixteen grandchildren: Nichole, Starr, Summer, Douglas Jr., Evan, Stephanie, Mallory, Robert III, Morgan, Kevin, Nathan, Patrick, Natalie, Ashley, Amber, Aaron; nineteen great-grandchildren: Maddie. Chase, Jalen, Drew, Delaney, Michael, Saige, Douglas A., Alexander, Maggie, Eleanor, Julius, Robert IV, Harrison, Cohen, Keanu, Lennon, Nainoa, Dillon.

Margaret played the role of a “Kiewit spouse”, supporting her husband’s work efforts while spending most of her time raising her five children and attending their extra-curricular school activities.  As her family grew with the addition of sixteen grandchildren, Margaret was in her element, babysitting and teaching her children and grandchildren lifelong lessons that will be passed on to her great-grandchildren in due time.

As with her husband, Margaret was a person of faith, giving of her time, talent, and treasure to her Church, the community, and those in need.  These efforts were part of her fabric and that was what made her likeable and easy to approach.  She was once asked what her proudest moment was…and she responded, “What gave her the greatest sense of accomplishment was seeing her five children continue to practice their faith and attend Sunday Church Services into adulthood and passing on this gift of faith to her grandchildren.”

Aunt Margaret Ann (Dillon) Broderick was a wonderful, kind, patient, loving, and good person. I have held her as one of my finest examples of a person who walked in the path of Jesus. Dear Family of Margaret,
I offer prayers and sympathy to all of you, on behalf of our Marianist Brothers and Marianist Affiliates. May God be gracious in giving Margaret full Peace, Joy, and Happiness now in Heaven. May Jesus and Mary bring all of you much comfort and strength in this time of loss and death.
I was privileged to be Spiritual Assistant with Margaret and Robert for many years while I taught at Gross Catholic. As you knew so well, what wonderful gracious folks your parents were!
