VISITATION: Friday, June 27, 2025, at 9:30am at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 11802 Pacific, followed by MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 10:30am. INTERMENT: Calvary Cemetery.

Dr. Margaret Jean (Ferrell) Munnelly entered into eternal rest on June 10, 2025, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Margaret was born on February 28, 1934, to parents, Mike and Mary Covalciuc, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John P. “Red” Munnelly; sister, Madeline and brother-in-law, Ross Stebbins; brother, Dr. Michael Alex Covalciuc of Scottsdale, Arizona; brother-in-law, Ron Patton; uncle, Alex Morar, Jr.; and her beloved cat, Faith, who joined her on June 18, 2025.
Margaret is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann Patton and Marsha (Bill) Smith of Omaha; and numerous dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
Magaret lived a full life. Prior to retiring, she served as Executive Director for the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians and prior to that, Senior Vice-President and Dean at the College of Saint Mary. She earned a PhD Degree in English with distinction from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, was a member of the highly selective Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society, and Lambda Iota Tau National English Honor Society, was awarded a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship, was a tenured Professor of English at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion and was inducted as an honorary member into the Phi Delta Gamma Professional Fraternity. Margaret was an active member of many organizations and enjoyed many accomplishments and successes in her life, always exhibiting strength and resilience. May she rest in peace!

Rest in peace Margaret, I hope you’re holding Faith in your arms at the Rainbow Bridge.
Our sympathy from the College of Saint Mary alumnae to Margaret’s sister and family. Margaret was the VP of Academic Affairs at College of Saint Mary for a number of years.
