Margaret Lee (Paludan) Hovey, “Maggie”
September 3, 1948 – January 21, 2019
Margaret Lee “Maggie” Hovey, age 70, was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on September 3, 1948. She passed away from cancer on January 21, 2019. Maggie was a member of the first class of graduates at St. Albert High School in Council Bluffs. She joined the Union Pacific Railroad in 1966 and retired from UP after 37 years of service. She met and married Allan Hovey on July 14, 1983.
Maggie’s most profound employment was that of grandmother. She spent the first six years of her grandsons’ lives taking care of them, shuttling to appointments and picking up from school while their parents worked. She will forever be her grandsons’ favorite superhero. Maggie was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Bellevue, NE. She was an enthusiastic supporter of Autism Research.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reinhardt and Katherine Paludan, and her sister, Kathryn Johnson. Maggie is survived by her husband, Allan; her daughter, Katherine Kelly (Sean) and her grandsons, Carson and Caden Kelly.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 24th from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, Jan. 25th at 10am at St. Matthew the Evangelist Catholic Church, 12210 S. 36th St. in Bellevue. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Autism Society of Nebraska.

You are all in our prayers. Maggie was such a loving, caring woman: she will be missed. Hugs and love dear cousins.
I remember working with Maggie in the IT dept. She always had a smile on her face. She will be missed.
