Margaret Louise Walsh

MARGARET LOUISE WALSH, age 83, of Missouri Valley, died at Longview Care Center on February 9, 2010. Margaret was born April 19, 1926 on the Stessman farm near Panama, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Beatrice (Leuschen) Stessman. Margaret graduated from St. Mary’s School in Panama in 1944 and became a registered nurse in 1947. Margaret married James Joseph Walsh on January 11, 1950 at St. Mary’s Church in Panama, Iowa and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary prior to Jim’s death on July 4, 2000. She was a nurse at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley and at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Omaha for many years until her retirement on April 1, 1988. Margaret was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Missouri Valley. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Margaret leaves her children, Kathy Wichita and husband Bill of Omaha, NE; Bob Walsh and wife Sheila of Lenexa, KS; and Dennis Walsh and wife Annette of Missouri Valley; dear friend Joe Grote; grandchildren Erik (Crystal) Wichita, Chris (Angela) Wichita, Colette (Scott) DeVos, Tony Walsh, Tim Walsh, Jason Walsh and John Walsh; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Book and Ethel Heller; brother Bill Stessman; sister-in-law Dolores Stessman; and many friends and relatives. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim Walsh, son Joseph Walsh, and brother Alvin Stessman. Visitation with the family will be held at 5:00 p.m. with wake service and rosary at 6:00 p.m.. Friday at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley. The family suggests memorials to St. Patrick’s Church or charity of your choice. The family would like to invite everyone to lunch and a time of fellowship at St, Patrick’s Church following the committal service.
