February 8, 1929 – January 22, 2022

Margaret Kennedy, 92, of Springfield, NE, died Saturday, January 22, 2022.  Maggie was born February 8, 1929, daughter to Martin and Anna McAndrew of Ireland.  She married her high school sweetheart, Francis “Red” Kennedy in 1950.

Maggie is survived by sons: Tom, Mike (Connie), John (Sue), Pat (Elizabeth); daughters: Colleen Smart, Mary (Roger) Stoops, Jane Kennedy, and Kathy Everett; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Patty Rochford and Ruth McAndrew.  Preceded in death by husband, Francis; parents, Martin and Anna; siblings: Vincent, Bernadette, Mary, Josephine, Martin, Emmet, Anne; grandchildren, Chad and Samantha.

A service will be held on Monday, January 31st, for close family and friends with burial at the Omaha National Cemetery following.

Margaret Kennedy, 92, of Springfield, Nebraska, died Saturday January 22, 2022.  Maggie was born February 8, 1929, daughter to Martin and Anna McAndrew of Ireland.  She married her high school sweetheart, Francis “Red” Kennedy in 1950.  

Raised in Omaha, eventually Red and Maggie moved to the family farm.  During retirement, they enjoyed touring in their van in search of Irish music and festivals and having grandchildren at the farm.  She was known for feeding them ice cream for breakfast and her saying, “What happens at Mimi’s, stays at Mimi’s.” 

Maggie is survived by sons: Tom, Mike (Connie), John (Sue), Pat (Elizabeth); daughters: Colleen Smart, Mary (Roger) Stoops, Jane Kennedy, and Kathy Everett; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Patty Rochford and Ruth McAndrew.  Preceded in death by husband, Francis; parents, Martin and Anna; siblings: Vincent, Bernadette, Mary, Josephine, Martin, Emmet, Anne; and grandchildren, Chad and Samantha.

    We have fun memories of Aunt Margaret, especially times in Omaha when visiting. Margaret and Red were a very fun couple. Memories of sitting out on Gramma Anna’s front porch with them waiting for their first child to be born. What a blessing she was.
