Marian K. Weis
October 9, 1937 – August 1, 2025
Marian K. Weis, beloved wife, mother, sister, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and spirited charm.
Born in Roseland, Nebraska, Marian grew up in a lively family with her siblings—Jim, Darrell, Phil, and Audrey—and her cousin and comedic partner-in-crime, Joan Hemberger. Together they filled childhood with laughter, stories, and more than a few adventures.
After high school, Marian moved to Hastings and later to Lincoln, where she completed business college and became a legal secretary for Omaha National Bank. During those years, she also became a devoted Husker football fan.
She met her future husband, Denis Weis, on a hayrack ride in October and married him on May 24, 1969. After their wedding at St Mary’s in Lincoln, they built a life in Omaha. Marian worked until she became a mother, raising two children— Diana and Daniel—who she loved deeply and was immensely proud of (though she preferred not to let them know in case they may get big heads). She later worked at Shopko and Baker’s, where her warmth, wit, and strong work ethic made a lasting impression.
Marian wishes to be remembered for her friendliness though she is known by most for being feisty, impish, and a true spitfire. Her quick wit, sharp memory, and strong sense of fairness endeared her to many, as she always spoke her mind with honesty and sincerity. She drove a hard bargain and never failed to answer you with her favorite reply “Oh bullshit!” to an unreasonable offer or to add playful sarcasm to a situation,
Her typical daily routine included solitaire, New York Times crossword puzzles, and praying the rosary. She developed a deep love for Husker volleyball and rarely missed a match—always with a cold Coke nearby, her favorite companion for any activity. She later found enjoyment in painting, photography, naps, and collecting Nebraska Passport stamps.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Leona and Alois Heuertz; and her four siblings. She is survived by her devoted husband, Denis; children, Diana and Daniel; cousin, bff, Joan Hemberger; and many extended family and friends who will deeply miss her sharp humor, candid advice, and no-nonsense one-liners.
Marian’s life was defined by humor, strength, and love. Though we’ve lost a truly unforgettable spirit, we are grateful for the moments we shared and the memories she leaves behind.

So sorry for your loss. Sincere condolences to you and your family.
As next door neighbors of the Weis family, we recall that Marian sheltered our daughters during the 1975 tornado. She whisked them into a basement closet when the sirens began to sound. We offer our sympathy on the loss of Marian to you Diana, Daniel and Denis.
My deepest condolences to your family! I have nothing but food memories of Marian! She was a sweet, kind person as well as a character! May our Lord bring you healing and peace as you suffer the loss of your beloved matriarch! God Bless!
