Marian Koefoot

Marion (Dunn) Koefoot 2/18/1918 – 12/3/2009 Marion devoted her life to her husband, child, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her quick wit, enthusiasm for life, compassion and “play for blood” bridge persona were lovingly appreciated by family and friends alike. A long time resident of Broken Bow she was active in Girl Scouts, P.E.O., Red Cross, the Republican Party and the Presbyterian Church A 40 year breast cancer survivor, in 1991 she was awarded the Terese Lasser Award for outstanding service in Reach to Recovery by the Nebraska Division of the American Cancer Society. She and her Husband Ted were lifetime supporters of the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. She was most proud of the award they established to recognize & encourage excellence among Nebraska rural health physicians. Marion was born in Arnold, Ne to Joseph E. & Pearle (Lewis) Dunn. She married Theodore H. Koefoot, Jr. on 9/9/1941, and resided in Broken Bow, Hastings andOmaha for the past two years. She is preceded in death by Husband, Theodore H. Koefoot, two infant sons, parents and brother, Joseph “Bud” Dunn. Survived by, Daughter & Son-in-law, Gretchen & Nick Vondrak. Grandchildren, Sarah (Vondrak) Gernhart & husband Gary, H. Nicholas Vondrak Jr. & wife Stephanie, Suzanne Vondrak. Great Grandchildren, Theodore & Olivia Gernhart, Isabella Balak, Harry Vondrak III & Elizabeth Vondrak. Brother-in-laws, Robert & Richard Koefoot. Sister-in-law, Helen Rutz. Nieces & Nephews. Family will receive friends Sunday 4-6PM at Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler West Center Chapel. Funeral Service: Tuesday 1:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 621 North Lincoln Ave, Hastings, NE. Private Interment: Broken Bow Township Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to University of Nebraska Foundation Marion D. & Theodore H. Koefoot Jr., M.D. Outstanding Preceptor in Rural Medicine Award.
