Preceded in death by parents, Erna and David Purrier; brother, Monty. Survived by husband, James C. Nelson; daughters, Danielle Evans (Justin) and Nicole Nelson (Seth Fries).
VISITATION observing CDC guidelines: Tuesday, April 13th from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel. Family Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to UNO History Department.

In the early to mid-1970s at UNO, I was a history major who who found Dr. Nelson’s history class to be a very dynamic one, so I signed up for another one. Dr. Nelson was a superb history lecturer who made an hour in the classroom the best hour of the day.
The academic community has lost a shining light.
Nikki and Dani, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. May God give you some peace and comfort during this difficult time. May the memories of your mom keep a smile on your face. Just know that you all will be reunited again in heaven with our Lord and savior. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and if you need anything please let me know.
