Marie A. Paschang

Marie A. Paschang

February 28, 1921 – January 10, 2020

An Omaha native, Marie enjoyed a rich and happy life, pursuing her many talents and varied interests.  She was Joe’s devoted wife for 65 years, until his death in 2010.  She cherished her five children, and celebrated and inspired their unique abilities.   She was very creative, excelling at cake decorating, sugar Easter eggs, knitting, needlework, and ceramics.  Her entrepreneurial side was rewarded by her repeatedly earning top sales awards as an Avon Representative.  Ever curious and resourceful, Mom embraced and mastered the newest technology, including movie cameras, early VCRs, and microwave ovens.  In 1982, she acquired an Apple II computer and never looked back, going on to own updated versions, along with the first versions of many Apple devices. She enjoyed using her iPad up to age 96 and was never afraid to try new things.

Marie taught her kids the joy of reading; books and magazines were always stacked around the house. Her other many loves included pop culture, movies, and especially music. She loved all forms of beauty, finding expression through eclectic fashion, fun nail polish, and glamorous jewelry. She and Joe traveled throughout the United States, Hawaii, and Mexico; she toured Europe as well. She adored Buttons, the family’s rescued Peke-a-Poo mop.

We will always remember her playful spirit and thank her for touching our lives.

Preceded in death by husband, Joseph R. Paschang.  Survived by children: William J. (Pam), Steve, Patricia, Teresa and Jeanne; two grandchildren, Kevin (Suki) and Scott; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Madalyn and Noah.

Family will receive friends Thursday, January 16th from 5pm to 7pm, at the West Center Chapel followed by a VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm.  MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, January 17th, 10am, Christ the King Catholic Church (654 S. 86th St.)  GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 1pm, Calvary Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to V.N.A. Hospice, Christ the King Catholic Church or the Nebraska Humane Society.
