Marie E. Betts

January 15, 1945 – June 2, 2025

With heavy hearts, we share the unexpected passing of Marie Ernestine Betts on June 2, 2025, at the age of 80 years.  She was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, by Clair and Celestine “Sally” Craven.  Marie worked as a Financial Clerk at OPPD for many years prior to enjoying her retirement.  She was a dedicated and supportive Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.  She cherished her family immensely, showering them with unconditional love and selfless acts of kindness.  She was also an avid horse lover and doll collector.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Chester L. Betts, Sr.; parents; son, Chester L. Betts, Jr.; and brothers, Roy T. Craven and Keith C. Craven Sr.  She is survived by her children: Kathy Hartle; Ken (Jennifer) Betts, and Carl Betts; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings: Carol Craven, Robert (Marilyn) Craven and Fran (Walter) Kazor; sister-in-law, Mabel Craven; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Friday, June 6, 2025, 4:00PM  with VISITATION beginning at 3:00PM at West Center Chapel, 7805 West Center Road, Omaha.

Private Interment, Cedar Dale Cemetery, at a later date.

    Kathy, Ken, and Carl – I am so sorry about Aunt Marie’s death. I have so many good memories of the times we spent with your family when I was a child. Please know that I’m thinking about all of you. Love all of you. Love, your oldest cousin, Jolynn.

    I worked with Marie at OPPD. She was a sincere and hard working person. It was a pleasure to know her and work with her. My sincere condolences go out to her family and loved ones. May she rest in peace.
