Marie F. Christensen (Vaculik) passed away on March 3, 2024, in Papillion. NE, at the age of 101. She was born on March 15, 1922, in Omaha, NE, and grew up in the Sheelytown area.

Marie was a very kind and loving individual who was proud of her family. She was known to be kind, generous and fun. Marie was an outstanding baker and great cook, hosting holiday gatherings for the whole family for many years. She valued the tradition of faith and family, and was a very social person, who enjoyed conversations with friends and family.

Primarily a homemaker, Marie also worked at Northwestern Bell as a teletype operator after graduating from Central High School in 1940. She married the love of her life, Carl, on March 17, 1944, in Gulfport, MS, where he was stationed. They raised their two daughters, Carol and Jeanette, in Omaha. Marie was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she worshiped and attended many social events.

While dating, Marie could often be found having fun riding motorcycles with Carl. Marie’s hobbies included creating beautiful crochet pieces, being an avid bowler, and of course fishing and traveling with her late husband, Carl. She particularly enjoyed trips to visit family in Colorado and Texas as well as vacations to Minnesota. Marie and Carl created cherished memories on milestone trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Niagara Falls, and Nova Scotia.

Marie is survived by her loving daughters, Carol Lehotyak and Jeanette Bacon; grandchildren ,Theresa (John) Barta, Cheryl Lehotyak, Laura (Jamie) Acord, Matthew (Ali) Bacon, John II (Anna) Lehotyak, and Douglas Bacon; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Grace, Emma, Katelyn, Cade, Samuel, Kyndell, Benjamin, Margaret, and Jaxen; nephew, Larry Vaculik (Leslie); niece, Nancy (Erv) Smith. She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara (Namestek) Vaculik; father, John Vaculik; husband, Carl Christensen; brother, Lewis Vaculik; and sons-in-law, John Lehotyak and Ron Bacon.

Visitation: Sunday, March 17th, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at our West Center Chapel. Vigil Service will follow at 4:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 18th, 11:00 a.m., Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2100 S. 32nd Ave.,   Interment: Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
