Marie M. Poly
April 30, 1985 – December 21, 2021
Due to an unpredictable, unpreventable brain aneurysm, we lost our beloved Marie Michelle Poly at age 36.
Marie graduated from Gross Catholic High School and the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a degree in Technical Theatre. She was a devotee of all kinds of music and the theatre, especially Broadway. Marie loved the outdoors and camped frequently. She was happily planning her wedding to Steve on October 1st. Marie worked for many years in childcare, focusing on special-needs children. She had recently begun work at an assisted-living facility where she will be missed by staff and residents alike.
Always kind, generous and giving, Marie made her final gift of life to four families by donating her heart, liver and kidneys. She will further medical research with the donation of her corneas, lungs and pancreas, and help hundreds with her donation of tissue and bone.
Marie will be missed by her loving family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Poly; grandparents, Anthony and Catherine Couvillon and Howard Poly; aunt, Elaine Trent. She is survived by her parents, Dennis and Lynn Poly; fiancé, Steve Wisniewski; sister, Ellen Jeffries (Matt); nephew, Caleb Jeffries; niece, Wren Jeffries; aunts and uncles: Julie and Glenn Peterson, Karen and Bruce Goracke, Pam and Scott Bennett, Mike and Stacie Couvillon, Frank Trent; cousins: David Trent (Ashleigh), Laura Fee (John), Kevin Peterson (Ana), Nick Peterson, Katie Orsi (Vinnie), Henry, Charlie, and Eric Goracke, Luke and Mark Bennett, Ben and Averie Couvillon.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, December 28, 2021, 10:00am, West Center Chapel. Interment: Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Fontenelle Forest.
The family requests mask-wearing at her service to keep each other safe.

My heart and Prayers to you all , in this time of pain and loss
Peace be with you !
Love , Katherine
Marie was a teacher for my now 14 year old daughter when my daughter was just a toddler. She was so attached to her Ms. Marie. Marie was so loving and caring, helped Makenzie grow as an individual. She left such a mark on Makenzie’s heart that despite Makenzie being so young, she still remembers Marie. Our hearts ache for her family, you are in our prayers.
So sorry to hear of your loss!. I worked with Marie at CRCC several years ago and my 2 children were in her classroom. She was a kind and wonderful teacher and person. Praying for you all!
You were one of God’s precious Angels on this earth! I’m not sure how the people so close to you continue…. yet that is what you would have asked us to do. You have loved back ten fold and have made us proud of the young lady you had become! With love and peace in Christ…. Amen Marie Poly 💔
Dear Lynn and family, I can only offer the promise from the book of Revelation which tells us that, one day, God will wipe away every tear from our eyes. Until that day, may the love of family and friends surround and support you. What generosity your dear daughter has shown by giving parts of her own body for the life of others. “This is my body given up for you.
You are all in my prayers.
Dennis, Lynn,Ellen, and Steve, Marie was a beautiful person, generous in life and now generous in her death. I remember when I first met her when she became friends with Siobhan. They soon became close friends. It was so enjoyable to see those two young women whenever I would visit at UNK, as well as after they graduated. What wonderful adults those two became! I pray that God grants all of you comfort. While her time was short on this earth, the impact she made will be felt for a long time. RIP. Marie.

Prayers and love to all of you! Marie was a treasure and always will be!
My time at UNK with Marie was wonderful. I am so saddened to hear about her passing. We enjoyed countless conversations and laughs together. I can hear her laugh as I type this. 🙂 she was an incredible woman who will forever be missed. As a sorority sister and as a woman, Marie was among the best!
Dear Lynn, Dennis and family. I am at a loss for words. You are in my prayers and thoughts. I didn’t have an opportunity to meet Marie but I know that she is amazing and will be so missed. I am not able to attend her memorial in person, but will join online and connect with you all later!! Blessings.
I spent many years working alongside Marie at CRCC as she was lead teacher in the toddler classroom. She was everything I wanted to be as a future educator! She didn’t change the way she ran her classroom or planned activities based on the ‘norm’ and was fearlessly loyal to that goal She ran it her way and, as a mom now, I would absolutely love to have a teacher for my son like Marie! Her focus on teaching was always child based. I specifically remember when Marie first started, I’d look around at all the other classrooms with their perfectly executed/cookie cutter artwork and then see the toddler classroom filled with paint, glitter, marker streaks etc. Marie refused to do any of that cookie cutter techniques. She wanted the kids to create their own art and play without limits or expectations. She was a wonderful mentor and leader during her time at CRCC.
Dear Lynn and family,
My prayer is with you at this very sad time. What a loss! May you be blessed even as you mourn. As you celebrate Marie’s life may you share in the peace and joy that she now knows. With a promise of continued prayer in Mercy, Deborah
Dear Lynn and family,
I am so so sorry. There are no adequate words. Know that I am praying God will give you the strength to put one foot in front of the other.
Words can’t express the ache in my heart for the loss of your dear Marie Michelle Poly,,, She was a free spirit and loved her life! She laughed, .. she loved, she gave to others, children of all ages and was just beginning an admirable position that only a special soul as Marie’s could endeavor to prepare people for assisted living. She ontinues to give life to others. I love angels and she was and still is one . God bless you all…..from your cousin, Suzanne XO
